And what a wonderful privilege it was to share that day with our church family with an early service, a breakfast, and then a time of worship together. At our Good News Club that week the children had an Easter egg hunt after hearing a special Easter story that clearly presented the gospel. They were full of energy and found the eggs in short order, although they had to work to find some of them. We continue to have good response from the children, but now that the end of school is nearing, some will be involved with sports and other spring activities. In spite of those conflicts, we'll continue until school ends; our last meeting will be May 22.

We were able to attend the IARBC Conference again this year and were blessed and motivated by the theme - America's spiritual beginnings and patriotism. Not only did we hear about the biblical foundation, but we were challenged to be Christians who do our part by actively standing and fighting for our God-given rights. We also were able to see people from supporting churches as well as other pastors, and 2 opportunities were offered to us: participating in a missions conference in Davenport, IA, in June and speaking for the Senior Saints week at the state camp in August. We're really looking forward to both of these events.

While at the conference, we received a call that Cheryl's brother-in-law had collapsed and died while at the Atlanta airport. It was such a shock! They were traveling to see the brother Cheryl visited last month who has cancer. Instead, he drove to Atlanta to be with their sister who was stranded alone there, and helped her make arrange-ments. What a reminder that we never know "what a day may bring forth." We both were able to attend his funeral, and although it was a hard time, we enjoyed seeing some neices we hadn't seen in years and meeting some grand-neices and nephews we'd never met! Cheryl's sister Joyce will face some tough times ahead, but she has already experienced the amazing comfort and encouragement of our heavenly Father.

Because we were out of town for the funeral, we missed seeing John DenBoer, but just yesterday Brad and Joanne Hoff attended our church and we enjoyed spending some time with them in the afternoon. She is going through some difficult times right now and often works on Sunday but has been very receptive to folks at church and the message. Tomorrow we plan to visit with her and find out for certain about her spiritual condition. There is another family whose children have come to church, but although the mother knows she should come, she hasn't yet. God has given us so many blessings! We got the new kitchen cabinets for the church put in and we had a shower to celebrate and stock the cupboards. Everyone was quite generous in supplying "kitchen stuff" so we can share our blessings and serve others. It was great fun and just in time to host the April pastors’ fellowship meeting as well as serve breakfast on Easter morning.

Brad built a new baptismal from a 550 gallon water tank for a fraction of the cost of buying one ready-made. A great time of fellowship followed as our family served omelets and hash browns for breakfast, and we continued in His Word for Sunday School and morning worship.

A church has taken us on for support and another gave us a monetary gift to help with Marie’s medical expenses. What is a greater blessing is that two were baptized in it less than a week later! Please pray for Kim and her daughter Kayla , for continued spiritual growth and that God would use them mightily. Several family members and friends came to the baptismal service , heard the gospel, and need to choose Jesus. Please pray for souls to be saved. The Easter sunrise service was well attended with 22 early risers as we gave God the glory for the empty cross and the empty tomb. A great time of fellowship followed as our family served omelets and hash browns for breakfast, and we continued in His Word for Sunday School and morning worship. A church has taken us on for support and another gave us a monetary gift to help with Marie’s medical expenses. We are truly grateful and thank you for being part of this ministry! We also appreciate all of you who pray for us! We are looking forward to seeing some of you in Grimes, IA, at the state meetings. Chris will be leaving for Germany May 10th for his six-week sampling of overseas missionary life. Please pray for his safety, integrity, and his testimony. For fourteen months I enjoyed the privilege of driving to Corwith for the morning service from 9am—10am, then traveling back to Britt for services from 10:30am to 11:45am. During these fourteen months John DenBoer visited two times and Brad & JoAnn Hoff from Continental Baptist Missions came once to offer ideas and to see if they could provide any encouragement or assistance as we asked the Lord’s direction through this process. To consider what future decisions God might want for Grace Baptist, we assisted them with two plans. One plan detailed what it would take to keep Grace Baptist open, the other option considered the steps to dissolve as a corporate group and join with Bethel Baptist Church in Britt. Now, to anyone outside of Grace Baptist church, the decision to openly discuss these two plans might seem so obvious, you cannot image it not having occurred before. But, if you empathetically put yourself in the place of those who need to consider the conclusion of ending a ministry, you can see where that topic would be like the proverbial elephant in the room, ever present yet somehow hidden. One church member expressed what a relief it was to bring this discussion to light in a simple, non-threatening, and factual manner. Shortly after the consideration of these two plans, the mayor of Corwith presented us with an option which involved a business potentially purchasing the building and land. A few weeks later a realtor put us in contact with a Spanish speaking group looking for a building to use as a church for worship services.
