Philippian Providers

Philippian Providers is a ministry that came into existence in 1950 to meet the needs of pastors primarily in new church work. Obviously, needs come to pastors lives whether they are in new works or established works. Neither are exempt from experiencing financial needs. It is true new works cannot, for the most part, supply a full-time pastor’s salary. Understand that Philippian Providers is not intended for a permanent support pattern. The plan is to be able to help pastors in a time of real need. For instance: excessive fuel bills thru bitter weather, sickness overtaking the family or family members, or crises of support in the life of the church. These are the kinds of needs that are met by Philippian Providers.

The Scriptural foundation for Philippian Providers is Philippian 4:10-15, quoted only in part, “But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity...Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel...no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, BUT YE ONLY.” Thus the Philippian Church was concerned about the missionary ministry of the apostle Paul, and helped meet his needs in the work of the Lord.
