Pastor Bruce Thompson Called to Berean Baptist, Pella

    All Locations

God records throughout Scripture, Acts 13 being one example, that He takes some of his servants who are ministering in one location and He moves them to minister in another. As His servants, we understand that He uses different people at different times and in different ways. In all of that, Paul and Barnabas's desire was to do the work of the ministry, to assist however God would have them in carrying out His will and His wishes. On Sunday, October 20, 2013, I announced at Bethel Baptist Church in Oskaloosa that I would be looking for another ministry. God indicated to Sharon and me that it is time for us to minister in another location and for Bethel Baptist to have a different pastor. I believe that God was leading me and therefore I believe that God is leading Bethel Baptist Church simultaneously. And since He is, we ought to be able to do this as a family, as ones who desire to edify the church together, as ones who desire the best for one another. Whenever the Scriptures talk about challenges that local churches experience, God often refers to the fact that the church was informed so that they could be praying and seeking God's will together. God has brought me to an understanding of His plan and I am submitting to Him, saying that there is another voice, another pastor that is needed in Oskaloosa to take this body of believers on to greater maturity and growth in Christ. I presented my formal resignation as pastor of Bethel Baptist Church on January 30, confident that God has guided in this decision. Berean Baptist Church of Pella has extended a call to us to be their next pastor and wife and we have accepted. We rejoice that God has made His will known. I am confident that He has great things in store for Bethel as He brings another man into the position to lead this body of believers on to growth and maturity in Christ. A Farewell Service is planned for Sunday, March 2, at 10:00 a.m., with a dinner following.
