Dear Pastors and congregations of the IARBC,

The IARBC Council of Ten is pleased to announce that Pastor Tim Capon of Faith Baptist Church, Carroll, Iowa, has accepted our unanimous invitation to serve as the next State Representative of the IARBC.

The Capons have served previously as pastor and wife at Bethany Baptist Church in Des Moines from 1986-1990 and for the last 23 years at Faith Baptist Church in Carroll. Tim has enjoyed extensive ministry with local churches, and with the IARBC and IRBC in various ministries.

The Council of Ten Search Committee and the Council of Ten have been working for the last nine months, holding many meetings with much prayer, seeking God’s will for the State Representative position. We are confident in God’s direction and with joy announce this decision to the churches of the IARBC.

A special business meeting of the IARBC will be held March 1, 2014 at Ankeny Baptist Church at 10 a.m. The purpose of this meeting is to present formally this decision of the Council to the churches and to allow church messengers to ratify the Council’s decision. This will be the only business item addressed and should be concluded before noon.  The IARBC Constitution says “The securing and dismissing of the State Representative shall be the responsibility of the Board of Directors (Council of Ten); however, he shall not assume duties until the messengers of the Association ratify the selection by two-thirds vote of the messengers assembled…” (Article VII, Section 1).

Each IARBC church is invited and encouraged to send three voting messengers and other observers to participate. A total of 26 churches present at this meeting will constitute a quorum (25% quorum requirement).

More information will follow in a few days. Do praise God with us and send messengers to this special business meeting!

    In His Grace,
    David E. Strope
    Council of Ten Chairman
