Talents For Christ Scholarship Endowment Fund

Talents for Christ is a ministry of the GARBC and IARBC, started more than 25 years ago. Many of the Christian leaders in our churches and agencies competed in the early days of TFC and expanded their skills and built godly poise. It has proven to be a very productive part of our youth ministries both state and national.

Many youth have been helped substantially by the scholarships earned in this competition while attending our approved schools. Our IARBC first place winners have received $100 and second place winners $50 with the schools adding four times that amount and sometimes offering other scholarships to the TFC winners. Some winners have never collected on their scholarships in that they have not attended our approved schools. We have been able to keep up with these expenses fairly easily with receipts from Funtastic and other youth events. TFC has never funded its own scholarships. But, with the high cost of education we should think of increasing the scholarship amounts.

More recently we have adopted a book stipend in the place of the dollar amount of the scholarship. This will mean that more of the youth will be able to enjoy their win by presenting their certificate in any bookstore of our approved schools. Thus students attending schools other than approved schools will be able to redeem their coupons. (Most would do so at FBBC bookstore.) We believe this will be a more equitable way of awarding excellence.

But, that being true, we will also expend more funds. This is the reason for the TALENTS FOR CHRIST SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT FUND. Gifts given to this fund will never be spent, but 90% of the interest will be used to fund the scholarships. We believe our people will want to make special gifts to this fund to keep our scholarships coming. Would you consider a special gift to a fund that will keep right on working, perhaps even after you are in heaven?

TFCSEF should be considered in estate planning and by friends of our youth who wish to make a one time gift to this fund.
